Booking Transport to Hospital

The Transport Booking Centre number is 0844 8700888

Hospital Transport Services are provided to help patients get to their hospital or clinic appointment.  Through positive changes in the way transport will be booked, patients who need ambulance transport to attend their first hospital appointment will now book their transport to hospital directly through a Transport Booking Centre.

Transport for all other appointments should be booked at the hospital when you attend for your appointment.

This is a separate service to the emergency ambulance – if you need an ambulance for a medical emergency you should always phone 999.

When you receive your first appointment letter from the hospital you should contact the Transport Booking Centre on 0844 8700888.

CHANGES TO YOUR APPOINTMENT

Remember – if your appointment is changed for any reason, please tell the Transport Booking Centre!

HOW DO I APPLY FOR TRANSPORT?

You will need to telephone the Transport Booking Centre at least one week before you are due to attend, but the earlier the better.  The booking centre will not take bookings more than 3 months in advance.

When you ring please have a pen and paper ready and the following details:

• Address (including your postcode)
• Telephone Number
• NHS Number/Hospital Number
• Name of Hospital/clinic/treatment centre and department you will be attending
• Date and time of your appointment

The Booking Centre is open from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am to 4:00pm Friday, but not on public holidays.

If you are eligible for transport, it will be booked for you and you will be given a booking number.  Please make a note of this number as you will need it if you have any queries.

If you have been sent an urgent appointment and you cannot give a week’s notice, please ring the Transport Booking Centre as soon as possible and if you are eligible we will do our best to arrange transport for you.
