Emergencies                                                                         Cymraeg >

If you have a medical problem that needs to be seen to urgently, you may need to make an emergency appointment, request a home visit (during normal working hours) or be treated by the out of hours emergency service.  You can get advice anytime by ringing NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.

Emergency appointments

If you have a medical problem that cannot wait for the next available appointment, we will see you the same day as an emergency.  Emergency appointments are shorter, and are for dealing with urgent problems only.

Home Visits

Home visits are only for patients that are housebound and have no means to attend the surgery.  Requests for a home visit should, where possible, be made by 10:00am.  The receptionist will ask for brief details, this will help us to prioritise the visits.  We may contact you for further details.  Please note in some circumstances (eg life threatening emergencies) we may feel that it is more appropriate for you to be admitted straight away by ambulance without a home visit - we will advise you about this.

Emergencies out of hours

For urgent problems outside normal working hours (after 6.30 pm weekdays and any time on the weekend), you will be treated by the out of hours emergency service.  Ring the surgery on 01639 635331 for more details or click here.  You may be asked to attend the treatment centre at Neath Port Talbot Hospital, or a visit may be made.  This service is currently run by Primecare, and you will not be seen by your usual doctor.  You can download a leaflet about this service by clicking here.  The Local Health Board is responsible for the out of hour's service.
